Partnership with Empower Ladies
Presentation of the association
The Togolese association Empower Ladies was born in 2019 in Lome, Togo. It is an initiative launched by Hamdiya Katchirika to fight against menstrual precariousness.
This association mainly organizes awareness-raising workshops in Lomé and in rural areas and produces cloth menstruals pads that are then distributed for free to young girls. With 100€, the association can make 50 pads for 25 young girls.
Empower Ladies has about 15 members and a dozen volunteers. The actions are mainly financed by the members' subscription fees as well as by occasional donations.
Our partnership with Empower Ladies
Hop-là! has committed to donating 2.5% of the cost of the classes (excluding taxes) to a local development association promoting education. Feeling comfortable during menstruation is essential for a young girl to succeed in school or in training. With the funds collected in 2022 (a big thank you to the learners of this website), Hop-là! has decided to finance an awareness-raising workshop for the residents of the orphanage La solution located in Adédikopé as well as the distribution of reusable sanitary towels pads to the young girls who are hosted there. The Empower Ladies association was informed of the difficulties of acceding to sexual education and sanitary pads in order to live comfortably the menstruation for young girls. This project, which took place on January 21, 2023, aimed to support the association's awareness-raising activities which are essential for the well-being of girls in Togo.
